Arsenal have started talks with Valencia for the signing of defender Christian Mosquera. Mikel Arteta wants to add another young talent to his options in defence, and the Gunners have chosen the Valencia youngster.

Christian Mosquera has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal and wants to join the club’s project, so the Gunners are pushing for a deal that could cost them a little over £20 million.

Mosquera is a highly rated young centre-back who is comfortable playing as a right or left centre-back, and he can also help Arsenal out in the right-back position if need be.

Chelsea, Real Madrid, and a host of other top European sides have also watched Mosquera, who has just one year left on his contract at Valencia. Real Madrid linked up with him in January and could still try to hijack a deal for the 21-year-old defender if Arsenal do not close the deal fast.

Andrea Berta, Arsenal’s new Sporting Director, has also lined up other options if a deal for Mosquera proves too difficult. The Gunners could move for Jorrel Hato if they fail to sign Mosquera this summer.

Mosquera news is the latest from the Gunners, as they have stayed busy over the past couple of days. Arsenal have already sealed a deal for Martin Zubimendi. In the past two days, they sealed deals for Kepa Arrizabalaga and also Brentford midfielder Christian Nørgaard.

The Gunners will still bring in some attacking options this summer as they hope to refresh their squad to compete on all fronts once again in the coming season.
