Arsenal are still on top of the Premier League table, they’re in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, and also on top in the Champions League group phase.

However, recent matches have shown that the Gunners are beginning to slow down in attack and in defence, as they have conceded goals more regularly in recent games.

Mikel Arteta’s men will need to sign one or two more players to sustain their challenge on all fronts as they head into the crucial part of the 2025/26 season.

In his recent presser, manager Mikel Arteta suggested that Arsenal will look to improve their squad in the January transfer window.

The window is there. We’re Arsenal. Now, we have to be looking at it. OK, what do we need? We have to be actively looking. And then can we do it or not? That’s a different story, but our job is to always be very prepared because something can happen. So, hopefully very positive

Arsenal Need To Be Active In January

The Gunners briefly considered Antoine Semenyo, but they did not make a move for the Ghanaian, who now expects to sign for Manchester City in January.

They have also tracked Club Brugge’s Aleksandar Stankovic and Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi. The likelihood of the Gunners completing a deal for midfielders remains low because the club is quite stacked in that position and has only suffered frequent injuries in attack and defence so far this season.

Jurriën Timber and Mosquera remain out injured, with Gabriel Magalhães only just returning after a few weeks on the sidelines. Another injury at the back could put the Gunners in a defensive crisis, especially with the number of games coming up in January.

According to sources, Arsenal will focus on players they have been scouting for a while in January.

The Gunners have been monitoring young players like Elche’s Rodrigo Mendoza and AC Milan right-back Davide Bartesaghi. A move for the young Milan player could be on the cards if Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, believes the 20-year-old is ready, just as he did with Christian Mosquera.
