They now face a club that has also impressed on its own Champions League journey this season. Arsenal and PSG met earlier in the competition, where the Gunners secured a 2–0 victory. However, they now face a PSG side with renewed confidence and a completely different attitude. Despite this, Arteta remains committed to his team’s philosophy:
“The way we approached the game when we played [PSG] before, the way we approach every week — that’s not going to change. That’s who we are, and it’s our biggest strength.”
Arteta added:
“It was very important for us because at the time they were one of the best teams in Europe and were performing consistently. They have an excellent coach and have been together for a while. Putting ourselves into that category, at that level, and saying: ‘Actually, we can compete, and we can beat them’ — I think that was good preparation for what’s coming now.”
PSG knocked out two English clubs to reach the semi-finals, but Arsenal represent a completely different challenge. Manager Luis Enrique acknowledged this ahead of their Tuesday clash:
“We beat Liverpool, and they won the Premier League this year. But that doesn’t mean anything because every match is different.”
The PSG boss remarked ahead of UCL clash with Arsenal.

- Arsenal have faced PSG five times in the Champions League without ever losing.
- Arsenal remain unbeaten in their last eight Champions League matches, winning seven and drawing one.
- The Gunners have led in 53% of their Champions League minutes this season — the highest in the competition. They’ve trailed for just 6% of the time, second only to Inter Milan (1%).
- PSG have lost five of their last six Champions League away matches against English clubs.
Analysis
Arsenal possess exactly what PSG struggle against — defensive organization. The Gunners have advanced this far not because of their attacking flair but due to their midfield and defensive solidity. They also use set-pieces effectively against tough opponents, making them a classic “knockout football” team.

It remains to be seen whether PSG’s attacking stars can break down Arsenal’s stubborn defense, but the stats suggest the Gunners have the upper hand.
