Barça have confirmed the signing of Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen. Barcelona signed both players for free after the expiration of their contracts at their former clubs.
Kessie is a truly tenacious presence in the middle of the park. Barça manager Xavi was key in the negotiations to sign the Ivory Coast star. Kessie spent 5 impressive years in Milan, ending his time at the club with a Serie A triumph last season. Kessie will add quality to Barcelona’s midfield as they prepare to recapture the La Liga title from Rivals Real Madrid.
Christensen joins Barça as an established defender. The Chelsea academy graduate has all it takes to make it in La Liga. Christensen has grown and learned a lot from playing with top defenders like Thiago Silva, David Luis, Antonio Rudiger, Gary Cahill, and John Terry over the years. He is also experienced at the biggest stage too, having played in the 2021 UEFA Champions League final which he won with Chelsea. He will add depth, calmness, and quality to Barcelona’s defence.
Barça will unveil Kessie and Christensen on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Kessie and Christensen both signed four-year contracts and have €500M release clauses in their contracts with Barcelona.
