• Defender open to January exit

Manchester United defender Rafael Varane is reportedly considering his future amidst all the on pitch and off pitch uncertainty at Manchester United this season. Bayern Munich are monitoring the former Real Madrid defender, and they could move for him in January.

Recent reports suggest that Varane could be tempted to leave Old Trafford, and Manchester United will also consider selling if a bid of around €25m comes in.

Bayern Munich have made it clear that they want to sign a new defender in the coming months. The Bavarians have been linked to Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, but a deal for the injured English defender now seems unlikely.

Varane joined Manchester United 2 seasons ago, and he has endured a dramatic stay in Manchester, but a move to the high-flying German Champions might be too good to turn down.

Manchester United will also be looking to sign a new defender in January, even if Varane stays. The Club is hoping to embark on a new direction when Sir Jim Ratcliffe completes his buy-in at the club.

The Reds are currently tracking Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice, a club owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The Frenchman will likely cost United upwards of £40m. A potential deal for Todibo could be funded with Varane’s transfer fee if a move to Bayern Munich happens.
