- Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy Found Not Guilty of Rape and Attempted Rape After 2 Long Years of Court battle
Former Monaco and Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has been found not guilty of rape and attempted rape charges. Mendy, now 29 was charged with several counts of sexual assault and sexual abuse two years ago.
Earlier this year, he was found not guilty of sexual offences against several women, and now has been found not guilty on his main rape and attempted rape charges.
It was established Chester Crown Court that Mendy met a British student in Barcelona back in 2017. The said student attended one of Mendy’s parties with her friend. There, she claimed the City defender tried to rape her.
Mendy denied such allegations by stating that he asked her if she wanted to have sex. –
“I asked her if we are OK to have sex. She told me, ‘No’ because of my friend “I was like, ‘It’s fine, my friend says it’s OK, so if you want, he’s OK with that’. It’s when she started to be like that – upset, sad. I just left the room.”
Mendy also made a statement about the rape charge by another woman in the court.
“I will never force to have sex with a woman.”
Mendy signed for Manchester City back in 2017, and won 3 Premier League titles with the Manchester club and also the 2018 World Cup with France. He was released by City this June after his contract ended.
