Chelsea and BlueCo Closer To Having Their Most Balanced Squad Yet

Chelsea have agreed to sign Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson in a twist no one saw coming from Chelsea owners BlueCo.

Over the past four years, Chelsea have built a new reputation of not signing any player over the age of 26, as BlueCo ownership views players more as assets than for their on-field contributions.

This approach has led Chelsea to bring in many young players with the intention of flipping them for profit if their value increases.

However, Chelsea agreeing deals to sign Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson in a week has left football fans and Chelsea supporters confused.

Although signing two players over the age of 35 in a week might seem like a naive way to bring experienced heads back into the Chelsea fold, this move brings BlueCo and Chelsea closer to creating their most balanced Premier League squad yet.

Now, with two seasoned and respected professionals like Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson to guide and lead Chelsea stars into the 2026/27 campaign, that Chelsea squad is no longer a “young naive squad.” It is now a squad full of seasoned professionals who know what it takes to perform at the top level—a quite different place from where Chelsea’s squad was two years ago.

They now have the much-needed experience across different competitions and championships, combined with a manager who has the experience of playing and winning at the top level for many years, as well as winning experience as a manager.
