Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Brighton forward Joao Pedro. The Brazilian has signed a 7-year deal with the West London side and will complete a medical when he jets out to the USA to join Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad. Premier League side Newcastle also entered the race to sign the 23-year-old Brazilian, but Joao Pedro chose to move to London to join The Blues.

Joao Pedro will play as an attacking midfielder or second striker or as a makeshift striker for Chelsea as they look to add more talent to their squad after UCL qualification.

Joao Pedro feels comfortable playing as an attacking midfielder, striker, second striker, or even on the left wing if needed. Chelsea see him as someone who will help add to their dynamism as they take on Europe’s elites in the 2025/26 campaign.

Brighton signed Joao Pedro just 2 years ago from Watford for £30 million. Since then, Pedro has increased his value at the club by scoring over 30 goals and assisting 10 in all competitions for the Seagulls.

Joao Pedro becomes Chelsea’s second completed deal in a matter of days after The Blues sealed the deal for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund for a fee around £55 million. Estevao will also join The Blues in a highly revitalized attack.
