Chelsea target Morgan Rodgers has agreed to a one-year contract extension with Aston Villa. The 23-year-old Manchester City academy graduate will extend his stay at the club till 2031.

His new contract includes a major salary boost as Aston Villa views him as a key part of their immediate future despite rumours linking the Englishman to clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham.
The Blues were keen on Morgan Rodgers at the start of the 2025 summer transfer window, but Aston Villa’s £90 million asking price threw them off.
Chelsea still ranks Rodgers high on their list for attacking midfield options, especially after the Blues missed out on Xavi Simmons a few months ago.
Rodgers moved to Aston Villa in early 2024 and has since cemented his place amongst the best young midfielders in the Premier League.

Morgan Rodgers has scored 18 times and assisted 30 goals in 85 appearances in all competitions for Unai Emery’s side.
Chelsea and many clubs around Europe will still covet the current PFA Young Player of the Year, but Aston Villa wants to fully control the player’s future, and this contract extension plays a key role in that.
