Chelsea have unveiled Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly as their latest new arrival this summer.

The blues confirmed the deal worth over €40 million this morning. The Senegalese defender is Todd Boehly’s second signing this summer after Raheem Sterling.

Kalidou Koulibaly spent eight fantastic years with Napoli, helping the side to incredible feats in that time. The Senegalese international has also achieved success in his country’s colors. He led Senegal to AFCON 2021 triumph earlier this year.

Todd Boehly knows Koulibaly is an elite defender who will improve Chelsea, especially after Antonio Rüdiger and Christensen left the club.

“Kalidou is one of the world’s elite defenders. A great leader and an exemplary team player. Kalidou brings a wealth of experience & attributes that will benefit our squad & the club as a whole.” Chelsea’s new minority owner remarked”.

Koulibaly also expressed his joy after seeing a move that failed in 2016, come to fruition in 2022.

“I’m very happy to be here with this team at Chelsea. It’s a big team in the world and my dream was always to play in the Premier League. Chelsea came first to get me in 2016 but we didn’t make it.”

“Chelsea first came to get me in 2016 but we didn’t make it. Now when they came to me I accepted it cos they really wanted me to come to the PL. When I spoke to my good friends Edou & Jorginho they made my choice easier.”

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel shared his thoughts on the Senegalese defender

“We are very happy about his signing and joining our team. It is now the second signing of the summer and again we have a strong player, strong personality, big experience and, in our point of view a perfect addition to our group.”

Koulibaly has joined up with the Chelsea squad, and although he might not feature for The Blues against Club America on Sunday, he will catch the last stretch of Chelsea’s Tour of The USA before the team returns to Europe.
