Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel will leave the club come the end of this current campaign. The former Chelsea and PSG manager has had a rather disappointing spell in Bavaria with the German giants.
Tuchel’s Bayern Munich have been far too inconsistent this season. They crashed out of the DFB Pokal, they’re currently 8 points off Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, and are also trailing Lazio 1-0 after the first leg of their Round of 16 UEFA Champions League tie.
It has now been officially confirmed that Thomas Tuchel will leave Bayern this summer. The former Dortmund manager had this to say after the news broke today:
“We have agreed that we will end our collaboration after the end of this season”. “Until then, my coaching staff and I will of course continue to do everything we can to ensure maximum success for FC Bayern”.
Bayern also reassured their fans of their plans for the remainder of this season and next season:
“Our goal is to carry out a sporting realignment with a new coach for the 2024/25 season”. “Until then, every individual at the club is expressly challenged to achieve the maximum possible in the Champions League and Bundesliga”.
There have been talks even before the start of this current campaign about Tuchel leaving Bayern Munich. This was reportedly because the club’s heirachy did not see improvement in the way the team played. Despite snatching the Bundesliga title on the final day of the season last year, Tuchel has failed to impress the Bavarians with his style.
The German side are looking at the possibility of signing Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen. Liverpool are also interested in the Spaniard.
