- Chelsea agree deals to sign Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo From Sporting Lisbon
Chelsea have secured deals to sign two top Portuguese talents, Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo. The West London side reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon for both players, and they have committed to seven-year contracts with the West London club.

Fabrizio Romano broke the news yesterday, revealing that Chelsea agreed to pay £40 million for 17-year-old Geovany Quenda. The young Portuguese attacker rejected Manchester United and other clubs to join Chelsea.
Today, The Blues finalized another deal for Dario Essugo, a talented defensive midfielder set to provide cover for Moises Caicedo. Essugo will move to Stamford Bridge this summer, while Quenda will remain on loan at Sporting Lisbon until the summer of 2026.

Chelsea fans have urged the club to prioritize signing more experienced players to improve the team’s current state, but the Blues have yet to pursue an established star for a 2025 summer move. Instead, they have doubled down on their “youth project.”
Chelsea are moving quickly to wrap up deals ahead of the Club World Cup tournament, which will take place this summer in the United States.
The Blues have also begun working on player departures, with Dewsbury-Hall, Carney Chukwuemeka, Axel Disasi, Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling, and several others expected to be sold permanently this summer.
