Chelsea beat struggling Leeds at Elland Road as they close in on securing Champions League football for next season. Chelsea condemned Leeds to another defeat, which further endangers their Premier League status.

After a squad meeting with Thomas Tuchel this past week, the team looked assured from the first minute against Leeds. Mason Mount powered the Blues into the lead after just 4 minutes. The Chelsea star pounced on a cut-back from Reece James to give Chelsea an early lead.
Chelsea bossed the game, but when Leeds looked like they were settling into the game, former Manchester United winger Daniel James was sent off after a horrible tackle on Mateo Kovacic. The midfielder was later subbed-off due to the knock.
Chelsea couldn’t take advantage of the extra man in the first half, but exploited that advantage after the break. Christian Pulisic scored after a quick interchange of pass with Mason Mount. The American scored his 8th goal in all competitions this season.
Romelu Lukaku who hustled all game, got a goal for his efforts. On the break, Hakim Ziyech squared the ball to the big striker who took his time to finish pass a couple of Leeds defenders and Meslier in goal. The Belgian striker sealed the win with his third goal in 2 matches.
The Blues now only need two more points to confirm Champions League football for next season. Leeds are still 18th, level on point with Burnley, who are up against Spurs on Sunday. Chelsea will now switch their attention to the FA Cup final against Liverpool this weekend.
