Manchester United have reached an agreement with Atalanta to sign 20-year-old Danish forward Rasmus Højlund. The Reds will pay up to €70m plus add-ons for the young striker. Manchester United moved fast to compete the deal, as they did not want any competition or bidding war for the Atalanta striker.
Højlund will fly to Manchester next week to complete a medical and seal his move ahead of the Premier League season. Paris Saint Germain also tried to sign the Danish striker, but Højlund always maintained that he wanted Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag finally gets a proper striker to help take the goal-scoring burden off Marcus Rashford.
Højlund joined Atalanta last summer from Sturm Graz. After his season in Bergamo, the Danish frontman is one of the best striking prospects in Europe, and that is why Erik ten Hag snapped him up quickly.
Højlund scored 16 goals and registered 7 assists in all competitions for club and country last season.
