- Manchester United Unveil New Signing Mason Mount
Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea. The English midfielder has signed a 5-year contract with the Mancunians with an option for another year.
Mount joins Manchester United after a month-long negotiation between with Chelsea, as Erik ten Hag considered the Chelsea academy product a priority signing for Manchester United this summer.
Mount expressed his delight at signing for Manchester United after 4 seasons at Chelsea.
“I’m very excited to work under Erik ten Hag. It’s never easy leaving the club where you grew up but Man Utd will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career”.“I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies”.
Manchester United director of football John Murtough was also pleased with the signing of the Chelsea midfielder.
“We were particularly impressed by Mason Mount’s strong desire to join Man United”. “We loved his thirst for further success, as we push to drive up our performance levels next season and beyond”.
Mount leaves Chelsea after four seasons with his boyhood club after contractual issues with new Chelsea owners. He becomes the 6th Chelsea first team Chelsea player to leave the club this summer.
Mount becomes Manchester United’s first summer signing despite talks of an imminent takeover.
United are still looking to add more quality to their squad, especially in attack and potentially in defence. They have been linked with Inter Milan goalie Andre Onana and Atalanta striker Rasmus Højlund.
