Manchester United are hopeful that the international break will bring a much-needed respite from their injury woes. While Leny Yoro remains sidelined for the foreseeable future, there is positive news on the horizon for Rasmus Hojlund and Luke Shaw, who are both nearing their returns to action.
Mason Mount’s recovery timeline remains unclear, and Manchester United’s medical team is still assessing the status of Tyrell Malacia and Victor Lindelof.
As the team heads into the international break, United will be keeping a close eye on these players’ progress, eager to get their squad back to full strength.
Rasmus Hojlund
Hojlund, who injured his hamstring against Arsenal in the USA, is expected back after the international break. However, Erik ten Hag cautioned that his return may not be immediate. “After the international break, but when after the break? We will see how it develops during the break to get him match fit. It will take a while before he is up. He has to build some fitness.”
Luke Shaw
Luke Shaw, who has been out since February, made his comeback during England’s Euro 2024 campaign and is expected back soon. His absence has been due to a calf problem picked up in training.
Leny Yoro
Leny Yoro will remain sidelined for three months after undergoing surgery for a foot injury. Manchester United’s medical team expects him to miss the next three months, targeting an October 2024 return.
Victor Lindelof
Victor Lindelof, who was forced out of the pre-season friendly against Liverpool, is still sidelined with a toe issue. Ten Hag hopes for a quick return, but Lindelof was also missing from the Sweden squad this month. “Hopefully he can return quickly, but he is not available [against Brighton].”
Mason Mount
Mason Mount’s latest injury has raised concerns, given his history. Ten Hag explained, “It was forced. He mentioned an issue, and I don’t want to take the risk with him. I don’t know how much of a worry it is, I can’t say at this moment.” The manager opted to bring him off and introduce Joshua Zirkzee instead.
Tyrell Malacia
Malacia’s status remains uncertain, but the international break may bring some clarity on his return to the Manchester United side.
