Newcastle United are intensifying efforts to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, aiming to pair him with Alexander Isak next season.

Following Liverpool’s unsolicited approach for Isak on Tuesday, Newcastle are responding decisively, holding productive talks in the last 24 hours to secure Ekitike’s transfer.
Newcastle’s initial £65 million bid was rejected, but they plan to submit an improved offer to land the long-term target. Liverpool have also contacted Frankfurt about the 23-year-old, though they’ve yet to make a formal bid, setting up a fierce transfer battle.

According to Telegraph Sport, Newcastle’s leadership remains unfazed by what they see as Liverpool’s attempt to unsettle Isak with a leaked £120 million offer. Liverpool sources, however, deny any intent to disrupt and claim no official approach was made.
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Newcastle’s majority owners, are unimpressed by perceived tactics to pressure them into selling Isak. Rather than focusing on retaining the Swedish star, Newcastle are pushing forward with their recruitment plans.
Newcastle insist Isak is not for sale, a stance echoed across St James’ Park. Instead of merely defending against Liverpool, they’re challenging them directly by accelerating talks for Ekitike.
Isak’s response to Liverpool’s interest remains unclear. While no approach was likely made without some belief in his openness to a move, the 25-year-old has not indicated any desire to leave Newcastle. Liverpool, undeterred, may persist, but Newcastle are expected to stand firm.
Newcastle’s pursuit of Ekitike began over the weekend, intended as both competition and support for Isak. The club has signaled readiness to increase their offer to Frankfurt to finalize the deal.
