Brazil superstar Neymar was “tied up” by Peruvian shamans in the hope of “neutralising” his threat before their 2026 World Cup qualifier.

The plan was ultimately unsuccessful as the ex-PSG man assisted Marquinhos to score the winning goal in the last minute.

Brazil won their opening game of 2026 World Cup qualifying 5-1 against Bolivia. Neymar bagged a brace in that contest to take him on to 79 international goals. He is now clear of Pele as the country’s leading scorer.

This victory over Peru takes the Selecao to the top of the South American 2026 World Cup qualifying table. They are now level on points with eternal rivals Argentina.

Shaman Felix Rondan told reporters:

“We have neutralized Neymar by tying his feet. We tied him up so that he is not in good shape, and doesn’t run and play well.” Shaman Walter Alarcon added that the ritual was intended to cloud Neymar’s mind so that he cannot “achieve what he is looking for, which are goals”.
