Nigeria face Gabon in World Cup qualification playoffs. The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face the Panthers of Gabon in a bid to also qualify for the Inter-continental playoffs for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico next year.

A win for Nigeria will see them qualify to play against the winners of the other playoff tie between Cameroon and DR Congo on Sunday 16th November 2025. This comes after Nigeria failed to qualify directly from their group, losing their spot to South Africa.

According to reports, The Super Eagles of Nigeria refused to train yesterday because of unpaid bonuses and a few broken promises to the team by Nigeria Football Federation ahead of their crucial match vs Gabon on Thursday.

However, as of Wednesday evening, Nigeria captain, William Troost Ekong has confirmed that all the requirements and payment have been made, and that the Super Eagles have resumed training just 24 hours before they face Gabon.
