Arsenal grabbed a late winner through an own goal to beat relegation favourites Wolverhampton Wanderers at home on Saturday. Yerson Mosquera’s 94th-minute own goal rescued Arsenal as Mikel Arteta’s men ran out of ideas against a stubborn Wolves defence.

Arsenal’s attack looking limited is not a new phenomenon for Arsenal fans, especially this season against teams that sit deep against the Gunners. Mikel Arteta’s men have relied on set pieces in some games to get wins, and that is a sign that Arsenal’s attackers need to do more.
Against Wolves, Arsenal took 15 shots but only created 1.32 xG against the worst team in the league, and that is not a stat a team looking to be Premier League champions should be proud of.
Not only are Arsenal failing to create enough chances in some games, but the poor form of the club’s key attackers in front of goal has added another layer of comfort for opponents looking to defend deep against The Gunners and one of worry for Arteta and Arsenal fans.
Inconsistent Numbers For Arsenal Attackers
Bukayo Saka has not been in great scoring form over the past 365 days, new striker Viktor Gyökeres has not hit the ground running like fans thought he would, and Martinelli has also been inconsistent down the left wing for the Gunners. All of this needs to change if Arsenal are to keep their spot at the top of the table until the final day of the season.

Manchester City have a certain Erling Haaland, who is leading Pep Guardiola’s charge to bring the title back to Manchester. Phil Foden has also recently rediscovered his scoring boots, while Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki are also coming into their own for Manchester City.
Although strong defences can win you league titles, if Arsenal fail to score enough goals to kill off games, Arsenal risk dropping unnecessary points against lesser sides. Wolves should serve as a good warning to Arteta and his boys.
