PSG beat Arsenal to secure their place in the final of the 2025 UEFA Champions League. They defeated The Gunners away at the Emirates Stadium and again in France on Wednesday night, winning 2–1 to reach their second ever final in the competition, where they will face Inter Milan.

Paris Saint-Germain needed to avoid defeat on Wednesday to seal their second final appearance in five years, but they went a step further by beating Arsenal once again at the Parc des Princes.

Arsenal started well in Paris, piling pressure on the home side with direct set-plays and shot attempts in and around the PSG box.

However, Luis Enrique’s men gradually fought through the pressure Arsenal applied, and just before the 30-minute mark, the home side opened the scoring with a thunderous strike from Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz at the edge of the Arsenal box.

PSG could have scored one or two more in the first half. The ever-lively Khvicha Kvaratskhelia hit the post before the opener, Bradley Barcola and Desire Doue also missed good chances. PSG continued to exploit gaps in the second half as the Gunners desperately searched for their first goal of the tie.

The referee awarded PSG a penalty after VAR judged that Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly had handled the ball illegally inside the box. Vitinha stepped up, but David Raya saved his tame effort, delighting the Arsenal fans.

However, their joy was short-lived as Achraf Hakimi burst into the box and slotted home PSG’s second of the night, extending the aggregate lead to three goals.

Hakimi’s goal all but confirmed PSG’s place in the UEFA Champions League final, though Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka pulled one back late on, making the final moments a little tense for the home fans.

Another Empty Season For Arsenal

Arsenal crashed out of the UEFA Champions League after losing their first semi-final tie in 16 years.

The Gunners had emerged as serious contenders for the title after dismantling Real Madrid both home and away in the quarter-finals. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta still believed his side deserved more: “The best team lost, in my view… especially after 160 minutes. I’m saying that, and they [the PSG bench] are saying that because they just told me.

Arsenal now face another season without silverware, while PSG remain on course for a treble as they prepare to face Reims in the Coupe de France final and Inter in the Champions League final, which will take place on the 31st of May 2025.
