Match Report Liverpool 0-1 Real Madrid

An Inspired performance from Thibaut Courtois in Paris! The Belgian denied Liverpool nine times to help the Spanish giants to another European triumph. Liverpool started well, and should have easily blown Real Madrid away, but Courtois kept them in the game. Saving from Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah in the first half. Real Madrid thought they had scored a goal just before the break, but VAR ruled Karim Benzema’s goal out for offside.

Liverpool continued with the pressure in the second half, but Real Madrid were waiting patiently for an opening and they got it in the 59th minute. Good work from Valverde down the right flank resulted in the Uruguayan capitalising on the space he had. Valverde whipped in a clean cross into the box, and Vinicius was on hand to tap home for 1-0.

Courtois remained dominant in the match, denying Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian got the better of Ferland Mendy. Real Madrid hung on to claim their 14th European Cup and Ancelotti’s fourth UCL trophy.

The Italian coach is now the most successful manager in the competition’s history with four trophies to his name.
