Should Barça Be Thinking About Signing Mbappe or Haaland?

Barcelona signed four players in the last transfer window. Those players have helped improve the mood around the club. Club chiefs are now tasked with identifying new stars that can lead the club for many years to come. 

Barcelona are interested in signing the big names in the market. The Catalans are interested in Erling Haaland and also Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe and Haaland are top strikers. Those two players have the potential to dominate football for many years to come. However, with the way Xavi is building his team, Barcelona might be better off without them for now.

Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland Now?

Financially, it makes little sense – We can argue that signing Mbappe or Haaland will have its own financial advantage for any club – it just wouldn’t be the best for Barcelona. They are just coming out of a terrible financial state. That was the reason they had to let Lionel Messi go. signing Kylian Mbappe and Haaland will be an expensive project even for the richest clubs, not to talk of Barcelona. 

There were reports surrounding the wages Mino Raiola will demand from any team willing to sign Erling Haaland. Mbappe will also not come cheap, as he already earns a mammoth amount weekly at PSG.

Also, Xavi’s style at Barcelona is working. There are no egos, and the players are playing for each other. Barcelona chiefs should let this continue. Barça can still challenge for major titles next season because of the growing team spirit in the squad.

Lionel Messi’s contract at PSG will expire at the end of next season. Making a huge signing like Haaland or Mbappe might not make Barça unable to re-sign the Argentine when his contract in Paris ends.

Basically, the club is just coming out of a terrible period that saw them end up in the Europa League. Making the same mistake that caused their problems wouldn’t be the right way to go.
