Taylor Fritz ended Tiafoe’s Tiebreak Unbeaten Run, By defeating fellow American In two tie-breaks To Win 7-6(3), 7-6(2). Fritz defeated Frances Tiafoe in an hour and 57 minutes which were both decided by a Tiebreaker. It was a perfect five days for Fritz. The 24-year-old arrived at the Rakuten Open after quarantining for 7 days in South Korea following a positive COVID-19 test.

Taylor Fritz and Tiafoe traded breaks in the opening set. However, Fritz consistency took him ahead in the tiebreak and he secured it with a cracking forehand. The second set was also intense just like the first, as Fritz’s serve proved impenetrable and Tiafoe had to defend several break points chances inside Tokyo’s Ariake Coliseum. In the tiebreak, Fritz raced into a 6-2 lead with power and accuracy before sealing his victory when Tiafoe’s forehand went wide the court. Fritz, was already assured of breaking into the top 10 after defeating Denis Shapovalov in the semi-finals.
