Manchester United do not look balanced in midfield and it is getting too obvious. Tottenham outplayed Erik ten Hag’s men on Saturday. Manchester United failed to learn from their 1-0 fluke victory against Wolverhampton Wanders last Monday.
With an unbalanced midfield of Casemiro, Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes, it is easy to see why Manchester United should be chasing a loan deal for Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch.
The problem remains simple. United need another midfielder. The strong and energetic midfield duo of Pape Mata Sarr, and Yves Bissouma made life difficult for the Mancunians in North London. An overworked Casemiro plus a forward-thinking Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes doesn’t make for a settled midfield base, and that’s where Ryan Gavenberch comes in.
Reports have linked the Dutchman with a move to Liverpool and Manchester United this summer, but with The Merseyside club already signing Alexis Mac Allister, plus Japanese captain Endo, Manchester United’s squad looks like it needs a player like Gravenberch the most.
A technical ball carrier, who is as defensively solid and also useful in the final third, he looks like the guy to bring balance to United’s midfield.
At his best, Gravenbrech averages over 3.5 ball carries into the final third, and that speaks of his calmness on the ball and his willingness to start attacks for his side.
The Old Trafford side have also been linked with Sofyan Amrabat too, but the deal reportedly depends on outgoings. However, United can get Gravenberch on loan from Bayern. Fred’s departure this summer necessitates the need to bring in another centre midfield option.
If Manchester United can sell Scott McTominay, a permanent move for the £30M valued Amrabat, and a loan move for Gravenberch will sort midfield problems for Manchester United.
