Kylian Mbappé inspired France to another victory against Morocco to secure a spot in the semi-final of the 2026 World Cup. Les Bleus were in form as they defeated a very strong Moroccan side in New Jersey with goals from Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé.
France started the game brilliantly, as they pressed Morocco aggressively in the first half. Half chances fell to Kylian Mbappé and Doué, before Dayot Upamecano forced Yassine Bono to make his first save of the match with a header from a set-piece.
Minutes later, Kylian Mbappé won France a penalty after Michael Olise released him on a break. Mazraoui brought the Frenchman down inside the box, and VAR confirmed the penalty decision.
However, Kylian Mbappé could not convert from the spot after Bono saved his tame shot. France continued to pile pressure on Morocco, and around the half-hour mark, Désiré Doué also came close.
Didier Deschamps and his men were unable to breach a stubborn Moroccan defence in the first half, so they changed strategies in the second.
The French relied more on long-range shots because Morocco defended deep, and it worked. Kylian Mbappé scored a brilliant goal from just outside the box to open the scoring just after the hour mark, and a few minutes later, Ousmane Dembélé slotted home a right-footed shot to make it 2-0.
France controlled the game from that point on, as Morocco offered next to nothing going forward. France recorded their sixth victory in this competition as they gear up for a staggering semi-final match against Euro 2024 winners Spain.
