In a few hours, the 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) will begin. Fans are looking forward to the opening matches of their countries and many are excited.

There are established stars at the tournament this year, but let’s take a look at young talents that’ll excite fans throughout the tournament in Cameroon.

1- Hannibal Mejbri, (18) Tunisia

The French-born Manchester United midfielder will be at the AFCON tournament with Tunisia and he is an exciting talent to watch out for. He was part of the Tunisian team that took part in the Arab Cup and he gave a very good account of himself. Manchester United legend Nicky Butt compared Mejbri to David Beckham and Roy Keane because of his leadership qualities despite being only 18.

The former Barcelona man has not had the best time at RB Leipzig so far, but this tournament will provide another opportunity for him to show just how good he can be. Moriba will have to compete for a spot in the middle of the park with Liverpool’s Naby Keita and Roma’s Amadou Diawara.

3- PAPE METAR SARR, (19) Senegal

Senegal are one of the favorites to win this tournament because of the amount of talent in their squad; Pape Metar Sarr is another. Tottenham signed him last summer for £15M, and he was loaned back to Metz.

Sarr is a midfielder who can do it all. Sarr originally plays as a number 10. However, he has played deeper in midfield as a number 8 for Matz. Sarr also has the ability to play on the wing, that’s how versatile the 19-year old can be.

4- ISSA KABORE, (20) Burkina Faso

Kabore is a right-back who plays for Troyes in France on loan from Manchester City. Kabore was signed by Guardiola in 2020, so you know he is an exciting talent. He will star for Burkina Faso and hopefully convince Guardiola at AFCON 2022 that he is ready to play for Manchester City.

5- KAMALDEEN SULEYMANA (19) Ghana

Kamaldeen is simply a dribbler. The Ghanaian will surely entertain fans in Cameroon. He is a pacy winger who is always ready to take the next player on. He is similar to Newcastle forward Allan Saint-Maximin. Rennes number 10 is highly rated and many have said that he has the potential to become a superstar. The 19-year old will have the floor in Cameroon and hopefully, he won’t disappoint.
