- Liverpool To Finalize First Summer Signing In 2024 As Federico Chiesa Deal Is Done
Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Juventus winger Federico Chiesa for £10m plus £2.5m in add-ons. The Italian winger has agreed personal terms with the Merseyside club and will travel to England today to complete a medical and sign for Arne Slot’s side.
Juve’s new boss Thiago Motta told the winger that he’ll not be a part of the club’s new project. After talks with Motta, Juventus placed Chiesa on the market with some top European clubs interested.
The 26-year-old Italian was reportedly keen on playing for Barcelona, but the Catalans did not make a move for him.
Clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United were also interested but many were wary of his injury record. The Italian forward has missed over 80 matches for club and country in the last 3 years due to injury.
Chiesa will be Arne Slot’s first signing as a Liverpool manager. The Reds already have Luiz Diaz as their main left winger, and the Colombian has started the season well, but the addition of Chiesa gives them much needed depth.
The Reds are still looking for opportunities to improve their squad in this transfer window. After a failed attempt to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi, they will still be on the lookout for an opportunity to sign a midfielder in the last hours of the transfer market.
