Arsenal Target Manchester City Captain Ilkay Gundogan

• The Gunners are looking to poach another Manchester City Star

With Granit Xhaka leaving the Gunners this summer, Mikel Arteta has identified German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan as the perfect replacement for the Swiss star.

Granit Xhaka will join Bayer Leverkusen ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. The Gunners are being linked with a host of other names in midfield, but Gundogan is their primary target.

The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been at Manchester City since 2016, and although he has proven important in key matches for the Citizens over the years, he is not a regular starter for Pep Guardiola’s side. The 32-year-old German has also been linked with a move to Barcelona.

However, he could opt for more regular minutes at Arsenal and also the opportunity to work with Arteta again. They could also tempt Manchester City, who will consider making a profit if a valuable offer arrives for Ilkay Gundogan.

The Gunners are also looking at other midfield options. The Gunners have been linked with Mason Mount, Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo, and Martin Zubimendi. Arsenal will keep exploring other central midfield targets as they hope to continue improving their squad.
