The Boston Celtics have emerged as a real threat to acquire Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant after recently offering a package centered on one-time All-Star Jaylen Brown.
Boston Eager To Land Durant
Brooklyn rejected Boston’s offer of Jaylen Brown, guard Derrick White and a draft pick. The Nets have asked for Brown, Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart, draft picks and potentially one more rotation player. The Celtics are currently less inclined to include Smart along with multiple players or pick assets. However they are mulling over the next step to take as the trade talks continue.
Boston, fresh off a trip to the NBA Finals, is currently led by a pair of star two-way wings in Jayson Tatum and Brown. The Celtics have tremendous interest in Kevin Durant and view him as a piece that could take them over the final hurdle. Durant requested a trade from Brooklyn on June 30 and since then, the 12-time All-Star has shown no change in his stance.

He was initially pushing for a trade to the Phoenix Suns but the Suns were unable to put together a strong package. Other teams that could be contenders for a trade include the Miami Heat and Golden State. Kevin Durant seems determined to get his move this summer as the relationship between him and the Brooklyn front office remains broken. Both parties will hope for an amicable solution, especially with training camp starting in a month.
