Manchester City kept the heat on Arsenal with a commanding 3-0 victory over Brentford at the Etihad. The deficit at the top is down to two points, and while the Gunners cannot be caught if they beat West Ham, Burnley, and Crystal Palace, City are refusing to blink.
Three goals. Three points. 💪

Pep Guardiola’s side were entrenched in unfamiliar territory, their own, for much of a frustrating first hour. Despite the pressure, it was Brentford who nearly shocked the hosts early on when a Michael Kayode throw-in forced a desperate goal-line clearance.
Erling Haaland looked uncharacteristically wasteful, missing two headers and seeing a sweeping effort saved by the excellent Caoimhin Kelleher.

With 59 minutes on the clock, Guardiola acted. He hauled off Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki for Phil Foden and Omar Marmoush. The shift worked instantly as Brentford lost concentration. City claimed a corner, which Bernardo Silva played short to the scintillating Jérémy Doku. The winger danced into the area, played an inadvertent one-two with Mikkel Damsgaard, and, just as he did at Everton, curved a peach beyond Kelleher that kissed the far left of the net.
The Bees had no answer. Haaland finally got his goal with 15 minutes left, bundling the ball in with his heel after Antoine Semenyo’s cutback caused chaos. Marmoush then wrapped up the scoring in added time, finishing low into the far corner. City will be content with the result, having finally found their clinical edge. The pressure now shifts back to Mikel Arteta’s men ahead of their London derby tomorrow.
