Manchester City have now seen off competition to win the race to sign star target Antoine Semenyo. The Ghanaian has chosen to sign for the Citizens after Chelsea dropped out of the race. Manchester United were also in the mix, but Semenyo made it clear on Tuesday that he wants to join Pep Guardiola’s side.
Chelsea entered the race to sign Semenyo on Monday, but barely 24 hours after news of their interest broke, the Blues opted out of signing the Bournemouth star.

The club showed belief in their current options. According to additional reports, Semenyo was never going to choose Chelsea’s project, as he wanted a side geared towards winning the league, like Manchester City.
The former champions are currently progressing talks to seal a deal for the 25-year-old forward after seeing off competition for his signature.

Semenyo represents an extra option for Pep Guardiola on the wings and can also play behind Erling Haaland when needed. An injury to Jeremy Doku has forced Guardiola to try Phil Foden and Cherki on the wings, and Semenyo provides an attacking upgrade that can help the Citizens beat Arsenal to the Premier League title.
If City complete the £65million signing of Antoine Semenyo, They will have to let go of one winger. One of Savinho, Oscar Bobb, or Omar Marmoush will leave the Citizens in January or at the end of the 2025/26 season.
