Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta for a fee of €40 million plus €4.5 million in potential bonuses. The 26-year-old will sign for Manchester United in the coming weeks and will resume with the squad in July to begin preparations for next season.
Manchester United have chased a deal for the midfielder for many months, as they see him as an ideal replacement for the departing Casemiro.

Ederson started his career at Desportivo in his native Brazil, and Cruzeiro snapped him up in 2019 for a figure just short of €300k. He left Cruzeiro a year later to join Corinthians on a free transfer in 2020, and at Coringão, his career started to take off.
He earned a €6.5 million transfer to Italian side Salernitana in January 2022, and a host of Italian clubs took note of his performances for the Salerno side. Within six months, Ederson secured a €23 million move to Atalanta, where he became a known and respected name in the Italian Serie A, helping the Bergamaschi win the Europa League in 2024.
Ederson can play as a defensive midfielder, a central number 8, and also as an attacking midfielder if needed. He will become United’s first midfield signing as they hope to rebuild a midfield that can challenge the best in the Premier League and Champions League next season.
