- PSG Star Neymar Has Signed a Two-Year Deal With Saudi Side Al Hilal
Al Hilal have announced the signing of Brazilian star Neymar from PSG on a two-year deal. The Saudi side confirmed the transfer today, bringing an end to Neymar’s 6-year stay in Paris.
Neymar joins a host of big names that have also swapped Europe for the riches and new challenge of Saudi Pro League. PSG manager Luis Enrique deemed 31-year-old Neymar surplus to requirement, and that allowed the club to cash in on him. The Paris side spent a world record €222m on Neymar back in 2017, and with this transfer, they have been able to recoup €90m to help with financial fair play regulations.
PSG signed Neymar to help win the UEFA Champions League, a quest that he and PSG have failed spectacularly at, with their best performance coming in 2020 when they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich in the final.
Neymar will earn €275m over the course of two years, his earnings could also rise to €370m based on commercial deals with the club.
Neymar was also delighted after his move to Al Hilal was confirmed
“I’ve achieved a lot in Europe and enjoyed special times, but I have always wanted to be a global player and test myself with new challenges and opportunities in new places,” he said.
