The Premier League returned to our screens after the two-week international break and it started with a bang as Tottenham heaped more pressure on Julen Lopetegui with a 4-1 win over West Ham.
Elsewhere, Manchester United won their first game in six attempts with a comeback performance against a spirited Brentford side at Old Trafford. Ten Hag’s men struggled to create chances in a cagey first half that saw them extend their Premier League goal drought to 300 minutes.
Ethan Pinnock headed in a corner to break the deadlock just before halftime but the hosts responded after the restart, thanks to Alejandro Garnacho, who volleyed in a Marcus Rashford cross.
United’s pressure paid off in the end as Bruno Fernandes’ clever flick released Rasmus Hojlund, who calmly chipped the ball over Flekken to seal the win.
The big shock of the night was Arsenal, who suffered their first defeat of the season away to Bournemouth. The Gunners were missing Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard but Mikel Arteta believed they still had enough quality to win. William Saliba was sent off after 30 minutes, changing the entire complexion of the game.
Bournemouth attacked every chance they got, and their industry finally paid off. Justin Kluivert set up Ryan Christie for the opener, and he smashed a strike into the top-left corner.
Arsenal goalkeeper Raya fouled Evanilson 8 minutes later, allowing Kluivert to seal the win from the spot.
