Six Exciting Matches To Look Forward To This Weekend.

Finally, It’s gonna be all club football till next year. No more annoying international breaks. From now till next March, many things will be defined in top European leagues. The serious contenders in the Champions League will be identified, as well as the big boys in the big leagues.

For Premier League clubs, there are no breaks from now till next year and that will test the mentality of the players and as well, stretch many squads.

It begins this weekend though. There are scintillating matches to look forward to this weekend all over the best football leagues in Europe. Let’s get right to it.

Monaco v Lille

It’s a big match in France. Defending Champions Lille head to Monaco in search of their first league victory since October 3. Lille have been very disappointing this season as they find themselves 12th in Ligue 1. 

Monaco will be at home to welcome the Champions, but they will be hoping to claim all three points. Monaco’s last league win came at the end of last month against Montpellier. Monaco’s last two matches in all competitions ended in a goalless draw. It promises to be the perfect resumption to the Ligue 1 on Friday.

Barcelona v Espanyol

This match is not so much about the local derby, it is about the beginning of a new Era at Barcelona.

Xavi was appointed by Barcelona just before the international break, and fans will get to see the new Barcelona boss on the touchline for the first time on Saturday.

They host local rivals Espanyol, and although, they both are on the same points, many will understandably pick Barcelona to win. It will be interesting to see the difference between Koeman`s Barcelona to Xavi`s Barcelona.

Leicester City v Chelsea

Chelsea fans will be hoping that their 1-1 draw against Burnley didn’t affect the team’s form or confidence. Chelsea visit Leicester on Saturday and the blues will be hoping to keep the lead at the top of the table.

Leicester defeated Chelsea the last time the West London side visited the King Power Stadium. That defeat was Frank Lampard’s last league match as Chelsea manager. 

Although things have changed since then, and both teams have served two entertaining clashes since then, the stakes are high this weekend.

Liverpool v Arsenal

Since their bizarre start to the season, Arsenal have managed to turn things around. The Gunners are on a 10-match unbeaten run. They have not lost in any competition since their humiliation at the hands of Manchester City.

However, it is Liverpool that have stumbled recently. They suffered their first defeat of the season against high-flying West Ham.

So, Arsenal will be looking to protect their unbeaten run in a stadium they haven’t won at since 2012. Liverpool will be looking to get back to winning ways against a team high in confidence.

Lazio v Juventus

There is so much to look forward to in Serie A this weekend. Struggling Juventus look to climb up the table when they visit Rome on Saturday. Lazio have three points more than Juventus and that is what they’ll be defending on Saturday.

Juventus need to start climbing up the table if they are to be in the UCL next season 

Inter Milan v Napoli

Defending champions vs table toppers. Inter and Napoli will surely provide an entertaining encounter on Sunday evening. Seven points separate Napoli and Inter Milan. It will be very different for Inter Milan as their opponents have not lost any league match this season. 

AC Milan play Fiorentina on Saturday evening. If the Rossoneri manage to defeat Fiorentina, Napoli will relinquish top spot if they fail to beat Inter Milan away from home. 

So many exciting matches this weekend. Club football is back!!
