- Top Performers From Matchweek 3 in the 2023/24 Premier League Season
With the likes of Chelsea getting their first win of the season, Arsenal dropping points, Liverpool winning at St James Park with 10 men, it sure has been an entertaining weekend of Premier League football. So, let’s have a look at the top performers this matchweek.
5 – Michail Antonio – 8.5/10
Antonio has been impressive for West Ham in the first 3 games of this season. The 33-year-old attacker was very important to the way his side defeated Brighton on Saturday.
The Jamaican troubled the Brighton defence with his physicality, and he also created the first goal for The Hammers. Antonio completed the most dribbles against Brighton, and he also scored his side’s clincher on the night. An outstanding display from the frontman once again.
4 – Matty Cash 9/10
A fantastic performance by the full back against Burnley. Matty Cash last scored a Premier League goal at the end of the 2021/22 season, but he was on hand to help his side to their second consecutive victory this season.
Cash tapped in from close range after good work down the left by John McGinn and Ollie Watkins. Cash also combined well with Moussa Diaby to get the second goal for Villa. Despite scoring an early brace, Cash was fantastic throughout the game, making the most tackles in the game and limiting an adventurous Burnley side
3 – Bruno Fernandes – 9/10
A true creative star for Manchester United. After going down 2-0 in the first four minutes against Nottingham Forest, Bruno Fernandes pushed his side over the line to complete a deserved comeback victory.
The Portuguese creator forced the shot that started the move for Manchester United’s first goal. His innovative set-piece caught Nottingham Forest out for Manchester United’s equalizer through Casemiro. Fernandes was also on hand to score the winner from the penalty spot to give Manchester United their second win of the season.
2 – Raheem Sterling 9.5/10
Chelsea might still be looking for their first win of the season had Raheem Sterling not turned up for his side against Luton town on Friday.
The English forward was also at his best against the Hatters. He scored twice and created Nicolas Jackson’s first goal in the Premier League.
1 – Darwin Núñez 10/10
The perfect scenario, the most effective substitute this season, and the perfect match. It was a perfect day for Darwin Núñez against Newcastle on Sunday.
The Uruguayan scored Liverpool’s equalizer and winner against Newcastle in a game where the Reds toiled after going a man down in the first half. 13 minutes played, two shots, two goals and three points picked up at a hostile St James’s Park on Sunday.
Nunez is the best player in the Premier League this week, as he decided the biggest game of the weekend with his two attempts on goal.
