- Ranking The Best Premier League Players Of Matchweek 5
Arsenal were finally able to break the Goodison curse, Manchester City still haven’t dropped points, Brighton were imperious against Manchester United, and Chelsea still cannot score.
It was an exciting matchweek 5 after a rather boring September international break. Tossyardkings ranks the top 5 best Premier League players.
Leandro Trossard
Trossard came on for Martinelli early in the first half, and was inspiring throughout the game for the Gunners. His goal helped Arsenal win at Goodison Park for the first time since 2017.
Trossard created two chances and was a constant threat to Everton throughout the game. His goal helped Arsenal continue their early season form as they try not to fall too behind Champions Manchester City.
Dejan Kulusevski
Kulusevski was unplayable against Sheffield, despite the fact that Tottenham goals came deep in extra-time.
Kulusevski was deservedly the man of the match, as he created 5 chances that included 2 big chances for Spurs, and also had 7 shots on target.
The Swedish forward also scored the winning goal deep in stoppage time. Richarlison came on to score and assist a goal, but Spurs were meaningful in attack towards the end thanks to Kulusevski’s efforts.
Pascal Gross
This man completely bossed the midfield against Manchester United. Gross had the audacity to have a 98% pass completion from the middle of the park at Old Trafford, while United struggled to catch him.
He also chipped in with a well taken goal to distinguish himself in the game. He was on another level on Saturday, and deserves to be here.
Julian Alvarez
Bernardo Silva or Jeremy Doku could have made this list easily, but it had to be Julian Alvarez. Just because he was able to rise up to the occasion when Phil Foden had a no-show day.
He got a rather simple first assist against a stubborn West Ham side because Doku did all the work for City’s equalizer. However, the audacious scoop over Nayef Aguerd for Bernardo Silva’s goal was absolutely fantastic.
Julian Álvarez, a striker, created 4 chances, hit the woodwork once and also grabbed 2 assists against a very dogged West Ham defence – That’s impressive.
Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah was single-handedly responsible for Liverpool’s victory away at the Molineux on Saturday. An inspiring creative performance by guy known for scoring goals.
Salah basically created Liverpool’s equalizer and Andrew Robertson’s winner, before setting up Harvey Elliot’s late goal (was later ruled as an own goal to Hugo Bueno) to make the score comfortable.
Salah is in-form and Liverpool have no trouble finding the net against defensive side, because of that. The Egyptian was the best player in 2023/24 Premier League matchweek 5.
