GK – Thibaut Courtois
The Belgian has been fabulous this season for Real Madrid. After last season’s disappointment against Chelsea, the Real Madrid goalie emerged as one of the shining lights in a fabulous European Campaign for Los Blancos. Courtois has made the highest number of saves in the UEFA Champions League this season (57), also claiming 4 clean sheets.
Defence
CB – Eder Militao
Eder has stepped up for Real Madrid this season. He has been solid defensively in Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Forming a strong partnership with David Alaba helped Real through the group stages.
CB – Virgil Van Dijk
The big Dutchman has returned to his best. It is no coincidence that his return has spurred Liverpool to the UEFA Champions League final once again. Liverpool sorely missed him last term. Van Dijk will hope The Reds do not get beaten by Los Blancos again this season.
RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold
Arguably the most creative player in the Liverpool squad – Excellent vision and passing. Trent Alexander-Arnold has had another fantastic European campaign with Liverpool registering four assists and ranking on that list among top midfielders.
LB – Joao Cancelo
Joao Cancelo had a grand term in Europe this season. Once registering three assists in a game, that is how efficient the Portuguese can be.
Midfield
MF – Thiago Alacantara
Thiago has settled at Liverpool and it has been evident in his performances for The Reds this term. The former Bayern Munich man has a chance to win his second UCL trophy in three years on Saturday and that is partly down to his performances for Liverpool.
MF – Kevin De Bruyne
Kevin De Bruyne had another strong campaign for Manchester City in Europe. The Citizens missed out on the final, but De Bruyne gave everything to aid the club’s UCL quest this season.

MF – Luka Modric
It is not too much to conclude that Real Madrid might not be playing in the UEFA Champions League final if not for this man. His unbelievable pass to Rodrygo brought Real Madrid back from the dead against last season’s champions Chelsea. The 36-year-old Croatian will look to put in another massive shift in Paris on Saturday.
Attack
FW – Mohamed Salah
The ever-consistent Mohamed Salah. 8 UCL goals this season have propelled Liverpool to the final of the competition. Mohamed Salah missed the chunk of the 2018 UCL final because of an early injury in the match, but he hopes to make an impact in Pa.
FW – Vinicius Junior
Vinicius Junior is by far the most improved player in Europe this season. He and Benzema have directly contributed to over 100 goals for Real Madrid in all competitions this season. Vinicius has been impeccable in the UCL this season. His solo goal against Manchester City comes to mind in what has been a truly remarkable year for the young Brazilian.
FW – Karim Benzema
Everyone will agree on this! Who else? Karim Benzema has fired Real Madrid to another UCL final with clutch goals and impressive displays. Hat-tricks against Chelsea and PSG, and three goals against Manchester City over two legs, cements Benzema’s place as the best striker in the world currently.
So there you have it. Our UEFA Champions League team of the season. Do you agree with us?
This is probably the best XI 💯
