Roma's Conference League triumph Shows Where Mourinho

Roma defeated Feyenoord in Tirana last night to win their first ever major European trophy. The Gialorossi won their first major trophy in 14 years last night. Roma’s victory was a statement from Jose Mourinho, a statement that proves the former Manchester United boss is still one of the best coaches in the World. Also, that victory highlights what gives the Portuguese an edge over Pep Guardiola.

It was classic Mourinho once again in Albania yesterday. The Italians grabbed a first half goal through Nicolo Zaniolo, and defended well to win their first European honour. Feyenoord came close multiple times, but could not get a goal back against a very determined Roma side.

With the victory yesterday, Jose Mourinho has demonstrated again that he is capable of doing what got him super famous at the early stage of his coaching career, winning with small teams. Winning the UEFA Cup with Porto, then following up with UEFA Champions League triumph in 2004 shot Mourinho directly to the top.

Winning with a team like AS Roma highlights Mourinho’s ability to get results regardless of his budget or style of play. Mourinho has managed to win trophies everywhere he has been except at Tottenham. He was sacked before he could play in the EFL Cup final against Manchester City last season.

Pep Guardiola is a wonderful manager, arguably the best in the world currently. Guardiola has had some question if he could propel a squad on a budget to success like Mourinho has done.
