FRITZ SHOCKED BY HOLT

In a major upset, Taylor Fritz was shocked by fellow countryman Brandon Holt. Fritz who was 10th seed and one of the favorites to claim trophy got beaten in a 4-set match. Fritz came from a break down to force a Tiebreak and win the first set 7-6(3). But that wasn’t enough to progress to the next round and make a debut in the Top8, as Qualifier Brandon Holt went on to win the match (3)6-7, 7-6(1),6-3,6-4 and advances to the next round in his Grand Slam Main Draw Debut.

Holt said, “I was excited to be playing my first main draw match,” “Had pretty good momentum from playing three qualies matches in a row. I felt pretty match tough.
I had a lot of fun, a lot of friends and family were on the court, in a big stadium. Biggest match I’ve played in so far.”
Holt will now play Argentine Pedro Cachin in the second round.

US OPENTSITSIPAS FALLS TO AGGRESSIVE COLOMBIAN

Fourth Seed Stefanos Tsitispas lost his chances to be World No.1 after going to Qualifier Daniel Galan 6-0, 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 in the first round of the US Open on Monday.
Galan showed aggression right from the start of the match not giving tsitsipas to control the game. Galan’s aggression proved effective as he broke Tsitsipas 3 times in the first and bagel him in the first set.
It took Tsitsipas 54 minutes to win his first game of the match but that wasn’t enough as Galan also claimed the second set 6-1.

Throughout the game, he received many treatments for his right forearm when the Greek found a break and won the third set 6-3, it appeared as though he had finally found his rhythm.
The fourth set proved to be the deciding factor in the world number four’s loss as she was defeated, 5-7. Tsitsipas was no match for Daniel Galan, who went on to win the match, 6-0, 6-1, 3-6, and 7-5.

“Definitely one of the best moments of my career,” Galan said. “Definitely the best match of my career, not only because of the circumstances, also the opponent. I’m really happy.”
Galan will next face Australian Jordan Thompson In The second Round.
