Aston Villa seal Coutinho deal Permanently

Philippe Coutinho will not return to Barcelona. The Brazilian has made his move to Aston Villa permanent. Villa and Barcelona agreed on a deal worth £17M. Coutinho had to accept over 70% pay cut to remain with the Premier League side.

Philippe Coutinho has been enjoying life under Steven Gerrard at Villa so far in this campaign. After his loan move in January, the Brazilian immediately found form in the Premier League, scoring and assisting goals.

Speaking after making his move permanent, The Brazilian claims he believes in Aston Villa.

I’m really happy, my family are really happy to be here,” he said.
“It’s a top club and I always felt welcome when I arrived here, from everyone, so for me today is a happy day.
“I felt very welcome from the fans, from my team-mates and from the staff. Like I said, it’s a great club and we want to achieve big things.
“I believe so much in this club and that’s why I signed here. I’m very, very happy.”

Coutinho joined Barcelona in 2018, hoping to help Barcelona recapture the UEFA Champions League and also replace Neymar, who left months before his arrival. However, his time in Spain did not go as planned. The former Liverpool Talisman struggled with form and fitness in Spain. Barcelona loaned him to Bayern Munich where he helped the Bavarians clinch the Champions League trophy, beating Barcelona on the way.
