Manchester City are confident they will complete a deal for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson before the end of the World Cup. City and Arsenal have been tipped to sign the former Newcastle man, but only City have submitted bids, and Forest have rejected all of them so far.
Nottingham Forest rejected City’s first bid of £80 million and then an improved bid of £121 million (plus add-ons). According to reports, Forest want a figure closer to £140 million for the English midfielder, and City are weighing up their options but remain confident they will close a deal for the impressive midfielder soon.

City are also considering Sandro Tonali as an alternative option to Anderson, and according to the latest report by The Athletic, City have contacted the player in hopes of agreeing personal terms first before submitting a bid to Newcastle.
Arsenal also hold an interest in Anderson, but according to the 23-year-old, the Gunners are currently looking for options to boost their attack.
Other sources at Manchester City have revealed that City are still stalling on a move for Anderson because the club have not confirmed Enzo Maresca as their new head coach. Many around the club believe Anderson will become City’s new signing in the post-Guardiola era once City officially finalize Maresca’s appointment.
